The Terry Fox statue: 25 years & counting
July 14, 2026
The Terry Fox statue on SFU’s Burnaby campus is an iconic 9½‑foot bronze monument located in the AQ Garden.
Unveiled 25 years ago on September 19, 2001, the ceremony brought together Terry’s parents, family members, and the SFU community. Sculptor Stephen Harman and his team dedicated five weeks of 18-hour days to craft the larger‑than‑life piece. The project was supported in part by a generous $20,000 contribution from the SFU Alumni Association.
