Since launching Canada’s first Executive MBA in 1968, Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business has become a dynamic learning hub known for producing global-class research for the knowledge economy.
Our undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs embody innovation and flexibility. With extensive partnerships across sectors, we aim to develop broadly educated, entrepreneurial, and socially responsible managers who make lasting community contributions.
In 2011, the school was renamed Beedie School of Business in recognition of a $22 million gift from alumnus Ryan Beedie and his father Keith.
Selected highlights
The Beedie School of Business at SFU is among just 1% of business schools internationally that are accredited by both Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), in addition to our accreditation with the UN’s Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).
We have a rich history of innovation which includes establishing:
- Canada’s first Executive EMBA
- First online Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA)
- First Management of Technology MBA
- The first and only Indigenous Business Leadership Executive MBA in North America
Beedie is home to numerous distinguished faculty and research centres which includes initiatives like the Digital Innovation and Leadership (DIAL), named in 2022 as flagship capacity building project of Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster; RADIUS is a unique hub dedicated to equitably (re)building a regenerative economy where all can flourish through community-led solutions and the redistribution of leadership; or The Charles Chang Institute for Entrepreneurship, the interdisciplinary hub for entrepreneurship education at SFU.
Our faculty members include cutting-edge researchers and business leaders like:
- J.B. Kim, distinguished professor in accounting and one of the world’s most influential accounting scholars.
- Eduardo Schwartz, the Ryan Beedie Chair in Finance, prolific researcher and winner of numerous teaching excellence and research awards.
- Rosalie Tung, Ming and Stella Wong Professor of International Business, a globally renowned scholar who has led the world’s top two associations of business professors and edited several top journals in her field.
Beedie’s accomplished alumni go on to build successful careers and many have received SFU’s Outstanding Alumni Awards, including 2024 recipients, Elio Luongo, CEO and Senior Partner, KPMG in Canada; Kluane Adamek, Yukon Regional Chief, Assembly of First Nations.
