In recognition of the 15th anniversary of the SFU School of Public Policy's first graduating class, we are initiating this fundraising effort to support a 4-member student team in getting to the 2020 IPAC CAPPA National Public Administration Case Competition in February. This year, the competition is being hosted by Laval University—the first time it’s being held in Quebec!
SFU has an impressive track record at the national-level competition, which draws participants from 14 public policy and public administration schools across Canada. Our School has won the competition five times since we first competed in Saskatoon in 2012, including first place three out of the past four years!
Masters of Public Policy (MPP) students know what it takes to work as a team. It’s embedded in our program through various collaborative projects as well as our annual internal student case competition, held in January each year. This opportunity to learn and work collaboratively on a real-life policy issue—within a 3 hour time constraint—is the kind of challenge that MPP students love to tackle.

"The opportunity to participate in the national case competition allowed us to apply our policy analysis skills, connect with peers and faculty across the country, and contribute to a contemporary policy issue. It was an invaluable experience."
- 2019 SFU MPP National Team members
This year, a record seven teams have signed on to be grilled by a panel of judges representing faculty, alumni and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC).
The team that gets top marks from the judges on their policy analysis, options and delivery will represent SFU at the nationals. Watch the video of SFU's winning presentation at the 2019 competition here.
