In light of recent events in Iran, there is an urgent need to preserve and build bridges to the Iranian mathematical community. This pilot initiative aims to do just that. This two-week summer workshop would host 20 Iranian students (primarily late undergraduate/Master of Science) and introduce them to cutting-edge topics in selected active areas of mathematical research. Our hope is that through this instruction and accompanying mentorship, some of these students would later apply for graduate school at a university in Western Canada, solidifying a long tradition of Iranian graduate students in our departments. We seek further funding for this pilot initiative for summer 2023. A donation of $2,000  can help support one student during this summer workshop!

The Math Summer Workshop for Iranian Students will be held from July 30 to August 11, 2023. During this time, attendees will participate in seminars, workshops, and lectures led by a diverse group of mathematical researchers and educators from universities in Western Canada. In addition, they will receive guidance from mentors in the form of faculty, current graduate students, and university administrat...read more
