Canada is mourning the loss of all 176 people who perished in the crash of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 bound from Tehran to Kiev. Fifty-seven passengers on board were Canadians; many of them university students, professors, and faculty members returning to their work or studies at institutions across the country after the winter holidays. Included in the unfathomable tragedy were cherished family members of SFU students.
"This loss is a tragedy for all Canadians. The SFU community grieves with our academic colleagues, students, and our friends in the Iranian community."
Andrew Petter, President and Vice-Chancellor
