Ellen Loosley was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved to Vancouver in the late 60s, where shortly after her arrival, she took one of the first jobs ever posted at a brand-new University, Simon Fraser. She remained at SFU for more than 50 years, obtaining an MBA, working with countless researchers, and finally retiring as Director of Research Services.

Her three sons, Alex, Ben, and Daniel each completed bachelor's degrees from SFU in physics, chemistry, and criminology, respectively. This bursary is intended to memorialize Ellen's contribution to, and affection for, SFU.

Ellen Loosley passed away on February 20th, 2022. A tribute to Ellen Loosley’s memorial would be an honour to her passion for SFU while supporting current students.
