For 33 years, CBC Radio's Writers & Company with host Eleanor Wachtel fascinated listeners with its intimate look at the inner workings of prominent and emerging writers, filmmakers, photographers and artists from around the world. The program’s entire archive of more than 1000 hours—including conversations with Carol Shields, Mordecai Richler, Toni Morrison, Alice Munro, Chinua Achebe, Kazuo Ishiguro, Michael Ondaatje, Zadie Smith and many more—will soon be available on the SFU Library website. This material will be an invaluable resource for students of literature, gender studies, politics, and culture, as well as for readers worldwide.
SFU Library's Special Collections and Rare Books provides researchers with access to a vast array of unique primary and published materials, including rare books, archival materials, and manuscripts.
SFU Library is seeking funding for the Writers & Company preservation project that will enable us to make this wealth of audio material freely available to all on our public website and to preserve and maintain it for many years to come.
