At the young age of 31, Alexis Unrau passed away on June 11, 2019. This year, she would have turned 35 years old. That is why on September 1st, a close friend is commemorating Alexis by taking 35 days to bike 2,400 km on her Peloton bike. This is the distance it would have taken Alexis to go from the University of Manitoba, where she was studying, to SFU.
Alexis was born on October 16th. She was a special baby right from birth as she was born with a front tooth, one blue eye and one green eye. Alexis loved going to the gym and weight-lifting. She also had a special connection to all animals, birds, and reptiles, even though she had several pet allergies. Alexis was a caring person who loved to be silly and make people laugh.
At the University of Manitoba, Unrau achieved 2 degrees—Criminology and Psychology. She finished at the top of her class with an Honors Psychology Degree, and was published in a Psychology journal for her research findings—a feat that few undergraduates ever achieve.

In the fall of 2019, Alexis would have been attending Simon Fraser University. It is no surprise that Alexis was awarded full scholarships for the next 4 years to pursue post-graduate studies based on her GPA of 4.5—the highest attainable GPA.
Unfortunately, before she could make it to SFU, Alexis passed away. Even though she achieved so much, she remained humble and modest with few friends and family aware of her accomplishments. Alexis was always a strong support person to everyone. She is dearly missed by her family and friends. A tribute to Alexis Unrau memorial would be to honour her passion for psychology and helping others.
