Share the Vibe: SFU Surrey Community Mixer returns Friday, March 8, 2024. Get your tickets today and join us as we bring diverse communities together to celebrate SFU’s impact in Surrey and hear from SFU President and Vice-Chancellor, Joy Johnson and her vision for the future in What's Next: The SFU Strategy. This lively evening will include a networking reception featuring an array of interactive food stations by local vendors, live music, and more!
Last year, business and community leaders, as well as donors, alumni and friends of SFU gathered at the first ever Surrey Community Mixer—a reimagining of the annual President’s Surrey Gala. Together, we raised over $17,000 to aid SFU students struggling to afford food and everyday essentials.
Guests this year will also have the opportunity to support SFU students struggling with food security. The Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society have generously contributed $25,000 toward the SFU Food Security Program and are inviting community members to match their donation—which will help provide the comfort and health of good food to students in need.
“I’m excited to celebrate the community that makes our Surrey campus so special at this year’s Surrey Mixer,” says SFU President Joy Johnson. “A special thank-you to the Surrey Firefighters for partnering with us and for their significant contribution to our food security fund. I look forward to sharing what’s next for SFU as we continue working with partners to transform the educational, social and economic landscape in Surrey.”
Thanks to the local community, business and governmental leaders, donors, alumni and friends of SFU, the university has been a vital part of the City of Surrey’s growing and flourishing community for over 20 years.
