Since 1985, Anne has specialized in risk management for Teck Resources Limited and its predecessor companies. During her 37 years at Teck, she was the first risk management professional in the company to receive an executive title and led a department responsible for every aspect of risk management for the country’s largest mining, mineral processing and metallurgical company.
When asked what she loves best about her work, she talks about her passion for different people and cultures, about sharing information and ideas, reducing and managing risks; and protecting people and communities, the company and its partners.
Anne has mentored and given tirelessly back to local and international communities to ensure children have a chance at education and life skills.
Emergency preparedness and response came naturally as she volunteered as a teenager alongside her father in the establishment of the Lions Bay Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. It is her hope that this award will support Beedie Business School students and alleviate some of their financial burden.
Your contribution will go directly to the Anne J. Chalmers Bursary for Business Students Endowment, which will help open doors for students of the SFU Beedie School of Business who could not otherwise afford a university education. This Endowment has been established as a permanent fund and will support many generations of students over the years to come.
With your help, we can make a real difference for students and honour Anne's incredible career.
