In Fall 2020, the Economics Department at SFU is celebrating its 55th anniversary! In just over half a century, we have become one of the top 3 Economics Departments in Canada and one of the top 100 worldwide! This success could not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our students, alumni, faculty and staff!
We are excited to launch an engaging series of events to celebrate 55 years of achievements—join our celebrations feature stories and events on Economics department anniversary page.
To commemorate our accomplishments, we are launching the Economics Students Leadership Fund—it is our commitment to ensure all Economics students have an outstanding learning experience at SFU and we empower them to be the leaders our society needs for the future.
The Economics Student Leadership Fund supports student initiatives that enrich the educational experience and create transformative learning opportunities. For example, the fund will sponsor students to attend case competitions such as the Bank of Canada Governor’s Challenge, organize career workshops, and create opportunities for students to connect with our vast alumni network.
The fund will also support students to expand their academic aspirations by sending graduate students to participate in international conferences and honours students to present at the annual Bank of Canada–Canadian Economics Association student paper competition.
By contributing to the Economics Student Leadership Fund, you are investing to help the next generation of SFU Economics alumni succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.
Your gift will make a profound impact on SFU students. Our students are ambitious, passionate, and eager to learn—and they need your support to reach their highest potential.
