The Malcolm Tom's Technology Grant became a strategic initiative for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences following the transition to online course delivery in light of COVID-19 crisis. This fund is now managed under the FASS Dean's Strategic Initiative Fund.

Malcolm Toms retired from SFU in January 2019 as the Network Operations Manager for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) where he served for 39 years and orchestrated solutions to computer problems big and small for staff, students and faculty.

Malcolm won the 2019 Simon Fraser University Staff Lifetime Achievement Award and a FASS Lifetime Contributions Award. Read Malcolm's reflections on his time at SFU and his plans for the future.

Donation Impact

The Malcolm Toms Technology Grant, now supporting the FASS Dean's Strategic Initiative, will assist students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences with their technology needs in pursuing their education at SFU—be it purchasing new technology, other educational technology upgrades and repairs—or overall support dedicated to improving a student's educational experience through technology.
